ब्रिटेन माइकल अलड्रीच ने 1979 में जब ई-कमर्स का कॉन्सेप्ट दिया होगा तो उसने भी नहीं सोचा होगा की पूरी दुनिया का कमर्स ई-कमर्स की ओर देखने लगेगा। देखते-देखते ई-कमर्स का बाजार इतना बड़ा हो गया है कि इसकी कल्पना माइकल अलड्रीच ने भी नहीं की होगी। ई-कमर्स की औपचरिक शुरुआत आॅनलाइन बुक्स (online books) बेचने के साथ हुई थी। आज आॅनलाइन बुक्स बेचने के साथ अपनी शुरुआत करने वाली ई-कमर्स कंपनी अमेजन बड़ी ई-कमर्स कंपनियों में से हैं। एक रिपोर्ट के अनुसार पूरे विश्व में 4.1 अरब लोग आॅनलाइन शॉपिंग करते हैं।

           अगर 2015 की बात करें तो विश्व भर ई-कमर्स कारोबार में 18 प्रतिशत बढ़ोतरी हुई और 2,251 बिलियन डॉलर इसका टर्न ओवर रहा। वैसे अगर टॉप टेन ई-कमर्स देशों की बात करें जहां की जनता अधिकतर खरीददारी आॅनलाइन करती है तो सबसे टॉप पर चीन है। चीन में ई-कमर्स में 2015 में 35 फीसदी की वृद्धि हुई है और यह 426.26 बिलियन डॉलर तक पहुंच गया। दूसरे स्थान पर अमेरिका है जहां पर 2015 में 15.7 फीसदी वृद्धि के साथ कारोबार 305.65 बिलियन डॉलर रहा। वहीं ब्रिटेन में ग्रोथ 16.5 रहा और कारोबार 82 बिलियन डॉलर, जापान में 14 फीसदी की वृद्धि और कारोबार 70.83 बिलियन डॉलर और जर्मनी में 22 फीसदी वृद्धि के साथ कारोबार 63.38 बिलियन का रहा। वहीं इस सूची में फ्रांस, ब्राजील,इटली, कनाडा और दक्षिण कोरिया शामिल हैं।

अगर अमेजन ने आॅनलाइन बुक्स स्टोर (online bookstore) से विश्व भर में ई-कमर्स की औपचारिक शुरुआत की थी, वैसे ही भारत में ई-कमर्स की बड़ी कंपनी फ्लिपकार्ट ने भी आॅनलाइन बुक्स बेचकर कंपनी की शुरुआत की थी। किस्सा तो यह है कि जिस ग्राहक ने पहली किताब खरीदी वह किताब फ्लिपकार्ट के पास था ही नहीं, तो फ्लिपकार्ट ने वह किताब खरीदकर ग्राहक तक पहुंचाई थी। लेकिन आज फ्लिपकार्ट सहित स्नैपडील, अमेजॉन, ईबे, अलीबाबा सहित कई ई-कमर्स कंपनियां भारतीय बाजार पर कब्जा जमा चुकी हैं। अगर हम आंकड़े में भारत की ई-कमर्स की बात करें तो एसोचैम की रिपोर्ट के अनुसार 2009 में भारत में ई-कमर्स का बाजार मात्र 3.8 बिलियन डॉलर था जो 2015 में 23 बिलियन डॉलर(154763.43 करोड़ रुपए) का रहा और 2016 में 67 फीसदी उछाल के साथ 38 बिलियन डॉलर(255696.11 करोड़ रुपए) तक पहुंचने की उम्मीद है। साथ ही 2020 तक यह देश की सकल घरेलू उत्पाद (जीडीपी) में चार प्रतिशत का योगदान देगा। यह बात ई-कॉमर्स के बढ़ते व्यवसाय का अध्ययन करने वाली संस्था ने अपने रिपोर्ट में कही है। हाल ही में इंटरनेट एंड मोबाइल एसोसिएशन आॅफ इंडिया व केपीएमजी(क्लेनवेल्ड पीट मारविक जॉर्जलर) ने ई-कॉमर्स व्यवसाय का अध्ययन कर संयुक्त रूप से इस रिपोर्ट को जारी किया है। वहीं फॉरेस्टर रिसर्च नामक संस्था की एक रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक, भारत में लगभग 3.5 करोड़ लोग आॅनलाइन खरीदारी करते हैं, जिनकी संख्या 2018 तक 12.80 करोड़ हो जाने की उम्मीद है। शोध के मुताबिक भारत के कुल खुदरा बाजार में ई-कॉमर्स बाजार की हिस्सेदारी 0.4 फीसदी है। इन दोनों रिपोर्ट से यह साफ हो गया है कि भारत में ई-कॉमर्स का बाजार तेजी से बढ़ रहा है। किताबों से शुरू हुआ यह सिलसिला फर्नीचर, कपड़ों, इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स उपकरण, बीज, किराने के सामान से लेकर फल और सौंदर्य प्रसाधन तक पहुंच गया है। इसमें कोई दो राय नहीं कि यह सूची आगे और लंबी होगी। ई-कॉमर्स वेबसाइटों के जरिए की जा रही आॅन-लाइन खरीदारी शहरी आबादी के लिए आम बात हो गई है, लेकिन यह भारत की गांव-गांव में पहुंचने में समय लगेगा। इसको लेकर जहां लोग भी धीरे-धीरे तैयार हो रहे हैं वहीं इस बाजार को भुनाने की तैयारी के साथ रोज-रोज नए-नए ई-कॉमर्स पोर्टल भी खुल रहे हैं।

देश में कवि-लेखकों का नेता बनना एक परंपरा और स्वभाविक बात थी। स्वतंत्रता संग्राम से लेकर अभी तक कई ऐसे कवि है जो बाद में बड़े नेता बने। अगर हम तत्कालिक बात करें तो अटल बिहारी वाजपेयी इसके जिवंत उदाहरण हैं। उनकी भाषा और वाकपटुता में ही कवि की झलक दिखती थी। उनकी भाषण और कविता पर लोग तालियां बजाते नहीं थकते थे। यह वहीं समय था जब कवि-और लेखकों का नेता बनने का दौर समाप्त सा हो गया। इसके बाद एक नया दौर शुरू हुआ जिसमें किताबों के माध्यम से नेता अपने खट्टे-मीठे अनुभव, राजनीतिक जीवन में उतार-चढ़ाव की बाते लोगों तक पहुंचाने के लिए कलम का सहारा लिया। ऐसी किताबों में वह अपनी आत्मकथा, राजनीतिक यात्रा के अनुभव लिखते ही है कुछ ऐसी भी घटनाएं या संस्मरण उसमें होती हैं जिससे वह किताब चर्चा में आ जाती है। चर्चा के कारण ऐसी किताबों की डिमांड होती है और यह आॅनलाइन बुक्स स्टोर (online books) से लेकर आॅफ लाइन बुक्स स्टोर तक यह किबातें खूब बिकती हैं।

हाल ही में यूपीए सरकार में वित मंत्री रहे कांग्रेस वरिष्ठ नेता पी चिदंबरम की ‘स्टैंडिंग गार्ड: ए ईयर आॅफ आॅपोजिशन’ की लाॅन्चिंग हुई। दूसरी ओर कांग्रेस के कई नेता लेखक बनने के कतार में हैं। अलग-अलग विषयों पर उन्होंने किताबें लिखनी शुरू कर दी हैं। यहां कांग्रेस पार्टी में ऐसे दो नेताओं की खूब चर्चा है, जो इन दिनों किताब लिख रहे हैं। उनमें से एक कांग्रेस महासचिव जनार्दन द्विवेदी हैं और दूसरे उनके राजनीतिक शिष्य मनीष तिवारी हैं। मनीष तिवारी दो किताबें लिख रहे हैं। एक किताब कांग्रेस के नेतृत्व वाली यूपीए सरकार के दस साल के ऊपर है और दूसरी किताब भारत में राजनीतिक पार्टियों को होने वाली फंडिंग के ऊपर है। कांग्रेस पार्टी के वरिष्ठ नेता वीरप्पा मोईली को सरस्वती सम्मान मिलने की खबर सब जगह छपी। राष्ट्रपति प्रणब मुखर्जी ने उनको सम्मानित किया।
          भाजपा नेताओं की बात की जाए तो इस समय इस पार्टी के नेता भी अपनी किताबों के कारण बेहद चर्चा में रहें। सीनियर पार्टी लीडर जसवंत सिंह अपनी किताब ‘जिन्ना: इंडिया, पार्टीशन, इनडिपेनडेंश’ को लेकर काफी चर्चा में रहे और पार्टी की कार्रवाई का उन्हें सामना भी करना पड़ा। इसके अलावा पत्रकार और भाजपा के पूर्व नेता अरुण शौरी ने ऐसे तो कई किताबें लिखीं लेकिन वे अपनी किताब ‘पार्लियाट्री सिस्टम’ को लेकर चर्चा में रह चुके हैं। अपने कार्यकाल को लेकर यशवंत सिन्हा ‘काॅनपफेशन्स आॅफ स्वदेशी रिफर्म: माई इयर्स एज फाइनेंस मिनिस्टर’ लिख चुके हैं। इसके अलावा भी कई ऐसे भाजपा नेता है जिन्होंने अपनी किताब के माध्यम से अपनी बात रखने की कोशिश की है।

Great Expectations—Film and The Book

An adaptation of the novel Great Expectations by Charles Dickens is now being filmed on big screen in India by Abhishek Kapoor. The director who made his debut by adapting Chetan Bhagat’s ‘Three Mistakes of My Life’.

Great Expectations’  is a masterpiece by Dickens,  though like all the other novels of him, this also centers  around an orphan child (Pip), but the mastery of Dickens lies in creating a character like Miss Havisham, (most probably adaptation of this character will be played by Indian actress Tabu in the film), a character which is romantic, yet a  villain. Miss Havisham, who was ditched by her lover on her wedding day, has not even changed her clothes since, then. The clock in her house, has become stagnant, it has stopped, at the time when she got the news of being ditched. She has not changed her wedding dress since then, nor has she removed the wedding cake, it all lies like that. 

Havisham, develops a animosity for the males after she is ditched. She then develops, Estella, --the leading lady—as a weapon against males, she wants to use this weapon to take revenge from the males of this world. 

Her first target is Pip—an orphan—who comes to work at Havisham’s. Though what happens to Pip & Estella in the end is a mystery to be unraveled after reading the great classic of Dickens.
